Eufy is Anker’s subsidiary focused on home automation. This isn’t their first robot vacuum — the one I’m talking about is their third, I believe. It’s their most capable to date and comes loaded with the most technology, especially for Wi-Fi connectivity.
Features
Fall detection: if you put it upstairs, you don’t need to block off the staircase — the vacuum won’t throw itself down, which is perfect if you have a multi-story home.
A remote control — it sounds basic, but you have to wonder why competitors didn’t think of it sooner. It lets you drive it like a remote-controlled car. I didn’t think I’d use it that much, but when you have a kid at home it’s incredibly handy to send the vacuum straight to the disaster zone!
There’s a button to send the vacuum back to its base — very handy, that remote.
The robot is connected — you can control it through a dedicated app. The app covers everything the remote does, and more. It’s really practical, especially when I’m in the living room and knock the peanuts onto the floor. I don’t have a dog to clean that up, so I call on Eufy via the app on my phone.
But it doesn’t stop there — it also notifies you if the robot gets stuck. Sure, it’s not that useful when you’re not home, but when you can actually do something about it, you get an immediate push notification from the app.
It doesn’t have room-scanning capability, so it navigates randomly. That’s its main weakness, but at this price it’s a very minor one. To work around it, just let it run every day.
Ergonomics
Unlike my old vacuum, this one is genuinely slim and lets me clean under the bed and sofa — which wasn’t possible before.
It’s slim enough to weave between the legs of kitchen chairs. That might sound trivial, but it saves me time — I no longer have to lift the chairs onto the table. I just need to remember to pull them away from the dining table so the robot can get through everywhere.
The dustbin is fairly large — I run the vacuum every day and only empty it once a week. I’d recommend getting a handheld vacuum , which I consider basically mandatory for cleaning the filter when you empty the dustbin.
Silence
I can finally run it while I’m in the same room! Anyone who’s owned a Neato knows exactly what I mean — the noise from the suction and rotating brush is just abysmal. I hope the brand has improved on that front; either way, this little Eufy does pretty well on that score.
Finally
This robot has everything going for it — except maybe the price, and even that is reasonable. It does exactly what you ask of it without breaking the bank, so I can only recommend getting one and starting with this one .
If you live in a single-story home, you might want to look at more autonomous, higher-end models — they’ll cost more but perform better over larger areas. If like me you have a multi-story home, it’s hard to justify investing in a premium vacuum for every floor.
That’s exactly where this little robot makes perfect sense.
