Saucony Endorphin Pro 4: a Pathetically Short Lifespan
🤖 AI-generated summary
* Mesh destroyed after just 500 km on a €250 shoe. 😤 * Sole in perfect condition — the problem is clearly the upper material. 👟 * Unstable on lunges at Hyrox too. 🏋️

At the end of 2024, taking advantage of a discount, I treated myself to the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 — because yeah, I wanted to look the part with carbon plates 😜. I was getting ready for the Toulouse Hyrox and the Paris marathon in 2025.

Let’s not kid ourselves — the moment I slipped those shoes on, it was love at first sight. The fit was perfect for my foot, the feel from the very first kilometers absolutely top-notch even for a casual runner like me.

Shoes I took good care of

I kept these shoes specifically for my long runs and tempo sessions. I had a separate pair for training so I wouldn’t damage them on WODs with too many burpees.

No trail, no gym, only clean road. I wanted them to last.

500 km and the mesh is destroyed

No point dragging it out. I did a grand total of 500 km at most in these shoes and the mesh is completely destroyed. Holes on both sides.

For a pair of shoes at the official price of €250, that’s shameful. The sole is in excellent condition, the cushioning still good. The only problem is this mesh that gave out.

These were my first Saucony. They’ll be my last.

Unstable on lunges at Hyrox

Another nasty surprise. If you’re prepping for a Hyrox, these shoes are unstable on the lunge station. The carbon plate and sole thickness are great for moving forward on flat ground, but for lateral movements it’s a different story.

It’s only one station out of eight, but when you can feel your ankles working harder than they should, it’s not comfortable. For running only, no problem at all. But for a mixed format of running plus exercises, it’s a flaw.

The Kiprun shoes take over

I’m hoping the Kiprun Kipstorm Tempo replacing them will live up to expectations. At €40 less and with French R&D behind them, the value-for-money looks better.

If you’re tempted by the Endorphin Pro 4, think twice. At that price I expect something solid, not a mesh that falls apart after a few months.

Take care and get out there and exercise 🏋️‍♂️
