You’d hope so, but the engineers really did do solid work here: all parts of your hand rest on the mouse. Your hand sits completely relaxed, without any tension — it’s genuinely pleasant, and frankly I don’t understand why this form factor hasn’t taken off more.
Doing better than an Apple Magic Mouse isn’t exactly a challenge, but beating Logitech’s own flagship mouse — the MX Master — in terms of comfort? That’s genuinely impressive.
Some people complain about losing precision in photo-editing apps like Photoshop. My answer: it’s just a matter of habit. If you slow your movements down at first, you’ll see that the MX Vertical is just as precise.
But why on earth didn’t they put the same features as the Master into the Vertical?

Why put a basic scroll wheel on a €100 product? The latest MX Master has a cutting-edge scroll wheel — click-free or with clicks — plus a side wheel for horizontal scrolling, which is incredibly handy in apps like Adobe XD.

, none of that — just a single old-school notched wheel that makes noise as it rolls. Needless to say, scrolling down a long page feels like forever compared to the Master’s free-spinning wheel.
Ergonomics doesn’t have to mean fewer buttons — so why so few buttons? You get 6 in total, all configurable through Logitech’s software, but that’s still slim compared to the 7 on the MX Master 3 .
I really miss the thumb button from the Master — especially since one button can have 4 possible gestures, bringing the virtual button count to 10! Hold the button and move the mouse in any of 4 directions and you can assign a different action to each. The MX Vertical doesn’t have that thumb button, and once you’ve gotten used to it, it’s hard to go back.
On the other hand, nothing to complain about regarding the coating — like the Master, the textured matte finish feels very pleasant to the touch.

To sum up: at the same price as the Master, the Vertical
offers nothing extra — except the ergonomics. But that’s a lot to pay (€100) for a different shape!
I don’t understand how Logitech can release such a different product at the same price point. Once you have a winning recipe, you should apply it across all variants: an ergonomic mouse, a left-handed mouse, etc.
That said, the ergonomics are excellent. I was worried based on reviews complaining about the size, but it wasn’t an issue. Only the back button is slightly too far forward and takes a little adjustment time — nothing serious. I’m genuinely blown away by the sensation when you hold it — your hand is truly at rest, no part of it is tense or hovering, it’s fully cradled by the mouse.
To truly nail it and get the perfect mouse, the next version would need to merge the strengths of the Master with the ergonomics of the Vertical — and then, in my opinion, you’d have the perfect mouse for long sessions in front of a screen without any discomfort.
